Author: Shaykh Abdulrahman al-Diba’i

Compiled by Shaykh Hisham Muhammad Kabbani

When the Prophet ﷺ  entered Madina, he was greeted by a group of young girls from the tribe of Bani Najjar singing the following verses: “We are little girls from the tribe of Bani Najjar, how wonderful a neighbor Muhammad is.” The Prophetsmiled and asked them: “Do you love me?” When they responded affirmatively, he said: “Allah knows that my heart loves you as well.”

Muslim sages have always emphasized that children are born saints due to their sinless innocence. The Prophet ﷺ described rain as “a recent arrival from its Lord” and hence advised his Companions to expose their heads to it. Likewise children are a rain of innocence and blessing from Allah that remind humanity of our ultimate home and return. Most importantly, they are a source of joy for a community and the best remembrance of the greatest divine gift to mankind: the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

But this is not only a Mawlid book with children’s drawings, for it also includes contributions by renowned adult Muslim artists from east and west. However, it has been specifically designed for these young angels to taste the beauty of the Mawlid and recite it in its entirety in short, easy to read verses that are enjoyable and celebratory. Most beautifully, the drawings supplement and bring to life the words of the author of the Mawlid, Abdulrahman al-Diba’i, in vibrant colors and scenes commemorating the life of the Prophet ﷺ and the teachings of saints, especially Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani, Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani and masters of the illustrious Naqshbandi Sufi path. We ask Allah Almighty to bless this endeavor and make it adorn the breaths of Muslim children across the world. We also ask Him (swt) to grant the innocence of children to all those who worked on this project and those who read and benefit from it; to gift us the love of Allah and His Beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and the desire to celebrate and commemorate his birth in every moment and in every breath.
